The 2024 Emergency Response Guidebook and phone application are now available for first responders. The first portion of this video was designed to teach personnel how to use the app to gather information and make timely decisions at the scene of a dangerous goods incident. While this video was developed as a self guide on how to use the application, instructors may use this video by stopping the video at each test slide to allow students to work through each situation.
The second portion of the video highlights how to secure the scene and isolate the public from any potential harm. Work zones, sometimes referred to as the hot, warm and cold zones will be established for several incidents. Suggested locations for the command post, decontamination line and staging areas based on chemical properties and the weather conditions will also be addressed.
The last portion of the video highlights how to respond to unique situations such as propane tank fires, electric vehicle batteries, terrorist events, toxic gas releases and water-reactive chemicals.
